Roll No. : 15

When: October.

Where: I forget the name of the park.

What I Remember: Sergio and I both had a day off, so in a somewhat rare act of ambulatory generosity, Sergio drove me to get a new winter coat; something I had needed to do for a while. Afterward, he took me to this park, which has a huge forest in the hopes of inspiring me to take photos for this project. About 10 minutes after this photo was taken, we decided to head back to his place. Problem was, he couldn't find his car keys, which really isn't surprising, considering how often he loses shit. We both remembered seeing them while we were in the forest earlier (his keys are attached to a long, thick, bright yellow lanyard which always dangles out of his pocket), which meant he dropped them somewhere. Like I said, the forest was huge and we had walked pretty deep into the forest, meaning it could have dropped anywhere. Worse, since it was fall, the ground was littered with leaves which could easily camouflage them. Thankfully, it only took us a few minutes to find them again. It could have been a lot worse.

Roll No. : 17

When: August.

Where: "The Bridge Spot"

What I Remember: I think Mark and I were going to hang out one day when Sergio showed up at my doorstep, so he came along too. We were all going to go to Sergio's favorite wonton place for lunch, but somehow the plan turned into getting baked, then devouring two large pizzas at Domino's and some beers at our little hang out spot under a bridge. It was what I considered a perfect afternoon; we had nothing to do and just relaxed.

Roll No. : 16

When: June?

Where: Somewhere along Spadina.

What I Remember: After I got roll #16 developed, I spent an incredible amount of time wondering why the hell I would take a picture of a cardboard box with trash on it. I remembered what day it was (the same day as Michelle's 'Take A Bath' photo) and where it was, but not the why or what was so special about it. The more I stared at it, the more I drew a blank. I gave up eventually. Then, one day, as I was going through the photos again, I realized why I took a photo of it: I thought it was cute how the box looks like it has a face. Seriously. That's the only reason I took the photo.

Roll No. : 18

When: July 1, 2010.

Where: Mike's room.

What I Remember: I remember everything that happened during the day, but aside from shooting fireworks at passing trains, I'd be hard pressed to remember anything that happened after the sun went down.

Roll No. : 19

When: Canada Day. Again.

Where: Thomson Park. Again.

What I Remember: In Scarborough, we banish super villains not in the Phantom Zone, but a pair of yellow wayfarers. Sorry, Michelle, but it was for the good of humanity.

Roll No. : 9

When: New Years Day, maybe around 9 in the morning.

Where: Sammon Ave.

What I Remember: I woke up early on New Years Day at Lenny's place, slightly hungover. JP and I both crashed at his place, but JP had left even earlier. I didn't want to be a burden to Lenny and I didn't know what time he'd wake up, so I followed JP's suit and quietly crept out to go home. At the end of his street, I came across this squirrel, who had frozen overnight (I assume it was overnight, because it wasn't there the previous night) in front of someone's house. I knew it was morbid, but I had to take a photo. It happened to be the very last shot on the roll. Not wanting to take chances in case the photo didn't turn out, I walked to the end of the street where there was a table and put in a new roll of film. It only took a minute or two, but by the time I walked back, only 50 feet or so, it was gone. The owner of the house had come out with his dog, spotted it and disposed of it somewhere.

Roll No. : 4

When: July.

Where: JP's front porch.

What I Remember: To be honest, I don't remember a whole lot. Just another one of those visits that Sergio and I made to JP's one night. JP lives the furthest out of all of us, and since none of us other than Lenny and Sergio have a car, most of us rarely get to see him. I hope he's doing well in Trinidad.

Roll No. : 4

When: Mid-July.

Where: Somewhere in the Forest Hill area.

What I Remember: I found myself hanging out with Britt one evening. I didn't realize it until that day, but I don't get to hang out with just her too often. She was house/pet-sitting, so we had dinner at a vegetarian restaurant nearby. I bought a roll of film afterward, then we went back to her friend's place, where I got to meet all the cute dogs and cats she was looking after. There's plenty of other really good shots from that night, and even though you can barely see the dog she's holding, I think this is the most emotive one out of all of them. Also, bonus points for wearing the SOS shirt I designed, which also features her.

Roll No. : 20

When: August 28.

Where: The Empire Hotel, Manhattan.

What I Remember: Haters gonna hate.

Roll No. : 15

When: July?

Where: Sheppard and Brimley.

What I Remember: This was taken probably two hours before this photo of JP. I can't really emphasize enough just how hot it was that day. Mark, Melissa and I had walked from where the train tracks meets the horizon and by the time we had gotten to where we were, we hit a wall. Due to the heat we couldn't really go any further, even though there was a lot further to go. We just kind of sat and chilled there. There's up time and there's down time and this was definitely down time.

Roll No. : 7

When: New Years Eve, 2009.

Where: Coxwell Station.

What I Remember: On our way to Eugenie's New Years Party. I guess technically, it should be exempt from the project, but I still count it since it was on the roll from that night. I know it's a pretty boring photo, but there's something about it that I really like.

Roll No. : 11

When: Good Friday.

Where: Trinity Bellwoods.

What I Remember: Same thing as all the other photos from that day. I just really like this one because it looks like an old-timey photo and that goes great with Michelle's laugh.

Roll No. : 20

When: August 26-29.

Where: Manhattan.

What I Remember: We came across a guy selling his art on the street. I'm not really sure what set him apart from everyone else selling their art on their street, but Sergio bought a painting. The guy seemed to have a story for every single one of his paintings, just like I do for my photos, only I couldn't tell if his stories were real or not. Both he and Sergio seemed to have the gift of gab. I trained my camera on them, waiting until I could get a shot of both Owen and Sergio laughing. I have no idea if Sergio still has his painting or not. Knowing him, probably not.

Roll No. : 8

When: May or June.

Where: A back-alley along Queen.

What I Remember: Haleigh, Brandon, Mark and I hung out one day downtown. I can't remember what we did other than check out graffiti and watch Haleigh grab a brick from the remains of The Kathedral. It was raining and miserable all day, even as I took this shot; it was a bitch taking photos in the rain. The majority of the photos taken that day didn't come out, so I'm glad this one could be salvaged.

Roll No. : 3

When: August; I'm pretty sure this was on my birthday.

Where: My driveway.

What I Remember: Sergio used to come over every night to shoot the shit. Because of what he was wearing that night, I joked that he looked gangster. We brought out my bike, which only made him look even more like some kind of vato. We use his truck's headlights and a floodlight I had as improvised lighting and it became an impromptu photo shoot. His fingers are supposed to spell "blood"; he couldn't form the letters on his own, so I ended up having to bend his fingers for him.

Note: Because Sergio and Mark were the two people I hung out with the most in 2010, I have the most amount of photos of them. Up until now, in order to make the assortment of photos evenly distributed, I ended up deferring from posting photos of either one of them. Consequently, I have a ton of photos of them to post now. So you can expect a lot of those coming up.

Roll No. : 21

When: August 27.

Where: The Empire Hotel, Manhattan.

What I Remember: For all my moaning about how Sergio could be a pain during the trip, I doubt I was all that great of a traveling partner either. That window in the photo was open pretty often, if not for the majority of the trip; I took full advantage of the fact that our room was smoke-permitted (they even supplied us with matches and an ashtray). Owen never once complained, although that only made me feel more guilty. But not guilty enough to stop smoking. So yeah, I'm a dick too.

Roll No. : 19

When: Canada Day.

Where: Mike's backyard.

What I Remember: There's a lot of Canada Day photos; I have like something like 4 rolls of film that contain photos from that day. This was taken towards the end, when we all convened at Mike's for a barbecue. It was already a pretty cool day, but when we got to Mike's it was getting even cooler, so I gave Brittany my jacket. I later found Brittany standing away from everyone; it turns out she just wanted to stand in the sunlight to keep warm, which is when I took this photo. That half-smirk totally makes the photo.

Roll No. : 6

When: I'm gonna say April.

Where: Bellevue Square, or what I call "the sketchy park in Kensington Market".

What I Remember: I hung out with Mike, Mark and Melissa one afternoon. After looking at video games, we decided to visit Eugenie and the Oxford girls. The whole bunch of us ended up walking to the park and just mucked around for a good while. I don't have too many photos of Eugenie in general, so I'm happy that I like the ones I took of her in 2010.
